The natural wood grain is the star of the design. Rather than covering it, I followed and exaggerated its movement by hand, creating the dramatic organic pattern that travels across the expansive top and drawer fronts. Gold, silver and copper detailing catches the light throughout the piece, while crisp black framing gives all of that movement structure.
Two tall black-and-gold mirrors add height and drama, while crystal-style knobs, gold hardware, metallic trim and sculptural center doors give the dresser its collected, glamorous character. There are influences of Hollywood Regency, Art Deco and modern maximalism, but this piece wasn't created to reproduce one particular period or style.
The result is bold without being mass-produced or predictable—a substantial piece of statement furniture designed to anchor a bedroom, dressing room, eclectic interior or designer space.
As with all restored vintage furniture, this piece carries evidence of its previous life. Those small variations are part of its history and make it distinctly different from factory-made furniture. See less
