Elevate your collection with this exquisite, hand-painted Japanese Satsuma koro (incense burner). Dating to the Meiji/Taisho export period, this piece showcases the highly sought-after "Thousand Faces" (Sen-nin) or Hundred Arhats motif, featuring a multitude of intricately detailed, expressive faces of sages and deities with raised gilt accents and elaborate brocade robes.

Design & Craftsmanship: The globular body is richly decorated with meticulous gold-work, fine dot-work (moriage detailing), and expressive facial characterizations framed by halos. It features two upright handles and stands gracefully upon three detailed beast-mask tripod feet.

Markings: Bears the traditional Shimazu mon cartouche mark in red on the recessed white base, indicative of classic Satsuma export craftsmanship.
