This pair of hand-made unique Mid 20th Century Tarzia duck figurines were handcrafted in Florence, Italy, using a combination of solid brass and African bamboo beads to form the body. The bamboo beads are actually African trading beads, most likely from Ghana, where artisans cut, hollow out, and smooth down small segments of natural bamboo stalks to fashion lightweight, tube-shaped wooden beads.

TARZIA HISTORY:
Tarzia Firenze was an Italian decorative design studio and manufacturer active in Florence (Firenze), Italy, during the mid-to-late 20th century (most notably the 1960s and 1970s).
Rather than a mass industrial manufacturer, Tarzia Firenze operated as an artisan design workshop producing high-end decorative home objects, animal figurines, catchalls (vide-poche), and tabletop accents. See less
