The artist depicts … Read more Add a touch of poetry and freedom to your wall decor with this superb 1970s ceramic piece. The artist depicts a stylized bird, all curves and lightness, captured in mid-flight. Behind this work is Jacques de Chateneuil (later known by the pseudonym Jacques Massard). Trained in Decorative Arts, he expresses his love of drawing here: each feather is textured by a delicate interplay of geometric hatching, entirely executed by hand. Made at the Poterie de la Brague (French Riviera), this decorative plate is a magnificent example of the naive and surrealist art that characterizes the artist.

The plate dates from the 1970s and is in perfect condition. Signed "J. de Ch.", the signature confirms that it is a unique piece, entirely hand-painted and drawn by the artist. We also have the artist's "Fantastic Fish" plate available.
