Every element of the design is both practical and stylish, exemplifying form and function.
Composed of leather sling seat/back rests supported by solid jacaranda frames assembled via stretchers and slender, cylindrical wood joints. Rodrigues was a master of wood joinery and designed the chairs to be fully demountable and easily reassembled for cost-effective transport.
From the collection of a prominent Brazilian architect who purchased these from a vintage dealer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and later had them expertly and meticulously restored in the early 2000s (leather slings have been replaced and frames have been conservatively refinished, showing desirable patina).
Very fine, restored condition displaying only light wear, which is largely attributed to naturally occurring blemishes within the jacaranda itself (see images).
Both chairs have the OCA pyrography marks to the backs.
