This is a bentwood side chair with a quartersawn oak back panel. The ray fleck runs wild across the crest rail, and the scalloped lower edge gives it a little swagger. The round oak seat sits in a steam-bent rim. Two bent-oak scroll braces curl out from the back posts, so it reads as a café chair with Midwestern manners. Turned front legs and double turned stretchers finish it off.

It's built the old way, with slotted screws through the back and a paper label still stuck to the underside of the seat. The label reads Sheboygan Chair Co., Wis., U.S.A. It's partly torn, but legible. See less
