Produced during a period of intense experimentation and innovation, the chair reflects the internal design culture of the Ufficio Tecnico Cassina, where craftsmanship, proportion, and material quality were treated as essential architectural values rather than decorative choices.

The chair is defined by its sculptural solid walnut wooden frame, executed with exceptional precision. The elegantly curved armrests, often described as wing like forms, reveal a deep sensitivity to line and balance. Every transition between surfaces is carefully resolved, giving the chair a calm yet expressive presence. The quality of the wood is particularly notable, emphasizing the geometry of the frame while maintaining a soft visual depth. The light linen upholsrtered cushion introduces a subtle contrast, enhancing both comfort and visual refinement.

This example remains in exceptional condition, we reupholstered the cushion to the original design in a nice quality off white linen. The walnut wooden structure is untouched, and the original patina has been carefully preserved. Only the rubber belts have been replaced due to age related deterioration, using materials that faithfully match the original specification in both color and character. The presence of original Cassina documentation further strengthens the provenance of the piece. As a collector’s object, the Model 572 rocking chair represents a rare convergence of design history, material excellence, and restrained elegance. It stands as a testament to Cassina’s role in shaping postwar Italian modernism and remains a highly significant addition to any serious collection of mid-century design.
