Up for consideration is an authentic mid-century modern "T-Back" Lounge Chair (Model No. 989), originally designed in 1968 by design pioneer Milo Baughman and expertly handcrafted by Thayer Coggin in North Carolina. This visually arresting design classic features a heavy, architectural flat-bar chrome frame forming a distinct "T" when viewed from behind. The clever cantilevered frame creates a beautiful visual illusion, allowing the plush upholstered seat cube to look as though it is floating completely in mid-air.
Draped in its original rich brown fabric, this masculine statement piece provides immense comfort via thick, deep loose cushioning. It is an exceptionally handsome addition to any contemporary living space, executive home office, or sophisticated entryway.

The heavy flat-bar chrome frame is incredibly sturdy, structurally sound, and retains an excellent brilliant luster with only minor, age-appropriate surface wear. The original brown fabric remains clean, tight, and free of any tears, holes, or odors. Please note there is slight, localized color loss/sun-fading along the tops of the armrests from normal handling over the years. The chair presents beautifully as a character-rich vintage piece as-is, but its outstanding structural foundation also makes it a prime candidate for high-end custom re-upholstery. Lastly under the seat cushion that shows no wear that attaches to the back of the chair with a ring and clip. The cloth part of a thin padding under that seat cushion has a tear in the connection to the side but does not effect the function of the chair and is not visible unless removing the seat cushion as shown in a photo. The glides have been recently replaced with parts from the factory as seen in the last 2 photos. The cushions are in perfect condition. less
