Louis XVI Style, Diminutive Demilune Commodes, Marquestry, Inlaid Wood, Bronze, Brèche d’Alep Marble, France, 19th c.
A uniquely sized pair of gorgeous fully refinished, rare and important, demilune cabinets designed and produced in the mid to late 19th century. Each example features a demi lune front, three pull out drawers and two curved side doors having colored floral design inlays (seldom ever seen) that swing open leading to shelved interiors. The satinwood and kingswood veneer has a warm, polished finish with visible grain patterns and beautiful basket and floral wood inlay. Both pieces stand on slender, tapered legs with bronze sabots and are marked 'FRANCE' on the wood top that the Brèche d’Alep marble top sits on.
