A solid cherry fall-front desk on chest from L. & J.G. Stickley's celebrated Cherry Valley collection, made in Fayetteville, New York.
The desk section has a scrolled crest and a paneled fall-front. It opens to a fitted interior with letter slots, a small center drawer above a scalloped valance, and cubbies. Below are three long drawers with batwing brasses, on a molded base with ogee bracket feet. The piece is two sections, which makes it easy to move.
Both the original "Leopold Stickley Original / Authentic Cherry Valley Stickley" paper label and the Stickley Fayetteville–Syracuse stamp are inside the top drawer. The case is marked with model numbers 5044 and 5045. The cherry has mellowed to a warm, rich patina.
Its compact footprint makes it a good fit for a small home office, an entry, or a bedroom.
