The standout feature is the tabletop, which incorporates genuine 18-karat gold foil/leaf, creating a luminous surface with beautiful depth, variation and an intentionally aged appearance. Rather than producing the uniform look of metallic paint, the hand-applied gold foil has natural irregularities and areas where the warm wood tones remain visible beneath and between the gold. The result gives the top an almost antiqued, timeworn character.

Set against the rich gold surface is an elaborate decorative composition of flowers, foliage, birds and butterflies, creating a look inspired by traditional chinoiserie and hand-decorated European and Asian furnishings.

The table’s original wood remains visible on the drawer front, sides and lower shelf, providing a warm contrast to the highly decorative top. The framework, apron and gracefully scrolled legs have been hand-painted in gold-tone acrylic, visually connecting the base to the genuine 18K gold foil used on the tabletop without overwhelming the original wood.

A small geometric gold-tone drawer pull provides a finishing detail.

The combination of natural wood, genuine 18K gold foil, decorative imagery and hand-finished gold framework gives this piece a layered appearance that changes depending on the angle and available light. The variations and irregularities visible in the gold surface are part of its handcrafted character rather than a factory-applied uniform finish.

This would make a striking entryway table, occasional table, bedside table, end table or decorative accent piece, particularly in interiors incorporating chinoiserie, Hollywood Regency, eclectic, maximalist or traditional design.
