This is a vintage Chinese export-style porcelain bowl featuring a wonderfully detailed English equestrian fox hunt scene with mounted riders, running hounds, European architecture and a mountainous landscape.
The colorful central and exterior scenes are surrounded by an especially elaborate cobalt blue and gilt Rococo-style border, with scrolling foliage, floral motifs and jewel-like turquoise accents. The combination is a charming revival of the Chinese export porcelain originally created for the Western market during the 18th century.
Dating to approximately the mid-20th century, circa 1960s–1970s, the bowl is unmarked and beautifully decorative from every angle. Its generous proportions and richly patterned exterior make it particularly effective as a centerpiece, console bowl or displayed in a collection of blue-and-white and Chinese export porcelain.
