Set of four antique English oak dining chairs, circa 1920s, featuring distinctive geometric splat backs, turned front legs and upholstered seats. The unusually clean back design combines a broad central splat with grouped fluted details beneath the curved crest rail, giving the chairs a graphic quality that bridges traditional English furniture and the emerging Art Deco aesthetic of the period.
The chairs retain their warm aged oak surface and are fitted with later red-and-gold patterned upholstered seats, which could easily be recovered to suit a new interior.
Acquired with a coordinating English oak draw-leaf dining table, shown in one photograph for context. The table is listed separately and is available for purchase.
