Late Victorian or Edwardian Continental European porcelain shaving scuttle, probably German, circa 1890–1915. The compact double-chamber form is richly decorated with cobalt blue, aged gold gilding, and dimensional applied floral ornamentation.
Originally intended to hold shaving soap above a reservoir of warm water, the scuttle now makes a distinctive decorative object for a collected bathroom, gentleman’s dressing room, library, or barbershop-inspired interior.
Marked underneath with handwritten factory numbers 247/2051 and an impressed triangular mark containing 247, believed to indicate the mold or form number. Maker presently unidentified.
Good antique condition with pronounced gilding wear, rubbing, light surface marks, and minor age-related imperfections. No obvious major cracks or repairs observed.
