Handcrafted in the mid-20th century, this relief composition combines a wooden model ship with a painted backdrop in shades of blue, gray, and white. The sailboat features a sleek hull, numerous masts and spars, cut and painted sails, and a particularly detailed rigging made of red thread and fine ropes.

According to family tradition, this diorama was made in the United States and then given to French friends in the 1950s or 1960s.
