Holtkotter Leuchten was founded in 1964 by master metal worker and locksmith Franz Holtkotter in Bad Waldiesborn, Westphalia, Germany. It is a luxury German lighting manufacturer renowned for its high end materials, precision engineering, and dedication to the German craft tradition. The products are heavily influenced by the minimalist German Bauhaus philosophy “form follows function.” With his broad expertise in metal work, Franz established a brand identity centered on highly functional, sleek, “lighting machines.” In 1983. To better serve the booming transatlantic market, the company established a dedicated North American arm called Holtkotter International, Inc based in St. Paul Minnesota. Again in 1990, to meet growing European and global demands, the company expanded production capacity by adding a secondary facility in nearby Liesborn, MN. Today, the U.S. company is led by CEO and granddaughter of the founder Katharina Holtkotter and continues to retain a superior reputation and a long-standing international success.
