this gentleman's writing desk, created around 1910, exhibits a strictly structured, largely geometric design language. The symmetrical design with two side panels, the rectilinear construction, and the subtly profiled door panels reflect the design principles of viennese modernism at the beginning of the 20th century.

the geometrically designed fittings in hammered brass add distinctive accents. Similar fittings can be found on a dining room sideboard designed by fritz nagel and executed by adolf nagel in our collection. These formal similarities form a crucial basis for attributing this desk to nagel. No archival evidence or maker's mark confirming this attribution has yet been discovered.
