The model is documented in original period catalogues and is a characteristic example of Halabala’s innovative approach to bentwood seating and Central European modernist design. The chairs are defined by their highly expressive continuous bentwood armrests, sweeping in an elegant curve around the upholstered bodies. This fluid wooden construction creates a striking contrast with the generously proportioned seats, inclined backrests and short tapered wooden legs. The pair retains its older vivid red upholstery, giving the chairs a particularly strong and graphic appearance. The bentwood armrests and legs display an attractive, naturally developed patina with visible traces of their long history and use. The chairs are offered in authentic vintage condition. The existing upholstery shows age and wear, and reupholstery is recommended. This can easily be arranged locally by the buyer, offering the opportunity to select a high-quality fabric, bouclé, leather or sheepskin appropriate to the intended interior. Their low proportions, dramatic curved arms and unmistakable silhouette make these armchairs particularly effective as freestanding statement pieces. An expressive and collectible pair of documented Halabala seating suitable for sophisticated modernist, contemporary and eclectic interiors. Sold as a pair.
