The vintage chest became the canvas for an entirely hand-painted tropical scene featuring playful pink leopards surrounded by lush botanical foliage. Layers of emerald, teal, turquoise and chartreuse are painted against a deep charcoal-toned background, while aged metallic gold details accent the architectural trim and complement the ornate brass-tone hardware.
The artwork extends beyond the drawer fronts and continues around the sides, allowing the piece to be appreciated from multiple angles. Visible brushwork, layered color and hand-painted variations are intentional parts of the artwork and make this piece completely unique.
Stylistically, the chest draws inspiration from the exuberance of Palm Beach Regency and Hollywood Regency interiors—bold color, tropical imagery, animal motifs, gilded details and furniture designed to make a statement.
