The vessel is formed with a squat globular body, short cylindrical neck and broad rounded shoulders, its surface dominated by deeply worked repeating wave ornament.

The body is finished in dark charcoal-black to deep grey tones, with the upper shoulder and neck transitioning into mottled olive, ochre and ash-coloured glaze. The principal decoration consists of overlapping concentric wave-like ridges carved or worked deeply into the surface, producing strong relief and pronounced shadow across the rounded form. The repeated motif relates visually to the traditional Japanese seigaiha wave vocabulary, although the pattern is organised more freely than a conventional uniform seigaiha field.

The textured dark body contrasts with the lighter upper glaze, creating a distinctly earthy surface consistent with modern Shigaraki ceramic production. The irregularity of the worked ridges and glaze transitions gives the vessel a handcrafted visual character while remaining within the category of regional production ware rather than a securely attributed individual studio work.

The underside has a broad recessed or unglazed foot area carrying a pottery mark. The original fitted presentation box is retained and bears a corresponding character or mark. A precise reading of the mark and specific workshop attribution have not been independently verified; the vase is therefore catalogued without a named maker.
