Its compact rectangular form emphasizes the swirling grain and clustered figuring of the veneer, framed by narrow ebonized edging. The top is centered by a brass shield above a flowing ribbon cartouche, both left uninscribed.

Two hinged doors open to reveal a pair of full-width drawers, each fitted with a recessed brass handle on a shaped backplate. The drawer interiors have wooden partitions dividing their storage space into two compartments. Burr walnut continues across the drawer fronts and inner door surfaces, giving the cabinet a carefully finished appearance when open. Flush-mounted brass carrying handles at either side introduce the practical detailing associated with campaign furniture and portable cabinetry.

The door lock is stamped “BRAMAH LONDON” and is accompanied by a key. This identifies the lock manufacturer; the cabinetmaker remains unidentified. Its combination of figured veneer, restrained brass ornament, carrying handles, and enclosed drawers suggests a portable cabinet intended for the secure storage of personal possessions, jewelry, or small valuables.
