46”W x 31.63”H Excellent condition, Screen-print in colors on thick textured rag paper, printed by Brand X Editions, New York, in a limited, unnumbered edition, Unframed.
A collector's piece and celebrated work, this original large-format screen-print poster was created by George Condo for the Lincoln Center Vera List Art Project on the occasion of Festival 2000. Founded by philanthropist and art collector Vera List and her husband Albert, the List Art Project commissioned leading contemporary artists to create original posters advertising Lincoln Center events. Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Helen Frankenthaler, Robert Rauschenberg are among the many artists who have contributed to the series.
Condo's 2000 commission, Paper Faces, is adapted from his large mixed-media painting of the same title from 1997. The work epitomizes Condo's unique visual language —a raucous, carnivalesque composition that unfolds like a jazz improvisation, its wide surface crowded with invented characters, some human, some animal-like, all jostling for attention. Their faces appear in multiple emotional states and perspectives simultaneously, set within and against bold blocks of purple, red, green, blue, and yellow. The result is an imaginary world that mirrors our own: frenzied, fragmented, and improvisationally alive. The poster is a premium screen-print on thick, textured white rag paper, printed by Brand X Editions of New York — a studio renowned for its screenprinting expertise and its creative collaborations with many of today's foremost emerging and established artists.
