Rendered in … Read more A wonderfully unusual early 20th-century pressed-glass powder box modeled in the form of a U.S. military service cap. Rendered in beautiful translucent pink glass, the piece features a remarkably detailed molded American eagle insignia on the front, a smaller insignia on each side, and an integrated projecting visor that completes the military cap silhouette. The removable fitted lid features a distinctive concentric-ring pattern.

Military cap powder boxes of this form are associated with American glass production of the early 20th century, with documented examples dating back to approximately 1916. Paden City Glass produced pink glass military cap powder boxes during this period; however, this example is unmarked and is being offered without an attributed maker.

Originally intended as a covered powder or vanity box, today is makes a decorative object, trinket box, or additional to a collection of early American pressed glass, military memorabilia, or patriotic Americana.
