A striking vintage king-size headboard combining an architectural carved frame with an elaborate Asian-inspired silk textile. The upholstered center features a beautifully detailed chinoiserie garden scene with flowering branches, bonsai trees, decorative vessels, bamboo-form geometric borders, and soft botanical motifs rendered in muted pink, green, lavender, burgundy, and ochre tones against a warm ivory ground.
The substantial surrounding frame is finished in a softly aged cream tone and detailed with deeply carved, reeded bands that curve around the perimeter. Interlaced carved accents at the crest and corners add another layer of sculptural detail without competing with the textile.
The overall effect is elegant rather than overly ornate—the pale frame keeps the piece light while the richly illustrated fabric provides color and visual interest. It would work beautifully in a traditional, chinoiserie, Asian-inspired, Hollywood Regency, or collected eclectic bedroom.
The headboard retains its mounting hardware along the lower sides.

The upholstered panel remains visually vibrant with scattered minor marks and small areas of wear consistent with prior use. There are two small tears near the bottom edge of the upholstered panel, in the area that would normally be concealed by the mattress, so they are not visible when the headboard is installed and in use. The painted frame shows surface wear, distressing, and minor finish loss, along with an age-related separation/crack in one carved area of the frame, as shown in the detailed photographs. Overall, the headboard presents beautifully and the noted imperfections do not detract from its appearance when installed. less
