A charming mid-20th-century child’s rocking chair by Ramsdell of Gardner, Massachusetts, retaining its original factory stencil identifying the piece as Style No. 11.
Crafted in warm-toned wood with a maple appearance, the petite rocker features a shaped double-slat ladder back, turned uprights and supports, sculpted wooden arms, a solid shaped seat, and gracefully curved runners. The aged finish and subtle wear give the chair an appealing, authentic patina.
At approximately 28 inches high, this is a true child-scale rocker and makes a wonderful decorative addition to an antique-inspired nursery, children’s room, reading nook, or collection of traditional American furnishings.
The underside retains the desirable factory stencil reading “RAMSDELL / 11 / GARDNER – MASS.”
