There is folk art simplicity, and then there is master craft artisan work and this piece is the latter. Each bird has intense detail and textured embroidery. The color combinations are striking, unexpected, and sophisticated. The base textile is a hand woven dark green cotton with tightly woven stripe ends. This piece has a wide zig-zag band at the top and bottom, and is finished on both ends with hand knotted fringe.
