The sculptural base is entirely constructed of metal and takes the form of an elaborate three-dimensional bouquet of flowers and foliage. Individually formed leaves, stems and densely layered flower heads rise through a dramatic framework of sweeping scroll supports, culminating in a substantial round glass top.

Remarkably, the table is also integrally illuminated. Three concealed light sockets are incorporated directly into the floral composition, with bulbs nestled inside cylindrical metal housings beneath removable flower heads. When illuminated, light filters through the layered petals, transforming the floral base into a glowing sculptural centerpiece beneath the glass.

Each dimensional flower head is individually fabricated and threads onto its respective metal stem, allowing the flowers to be removed. This removable construction is employed throughout the bouquet, including both illuminated and non-illuminated flowers.

The substantial tripod base is constructed around a central metal hub embellished with twisted rope-form metalwork and an abundance of hand-formed foliage. Three dramatically scrolling uprights support the glass, with openings intended for protective glass-support bumpers.

The table retains its vintage electrical cord, Gilbert inline switch and plug. The electrical components and three-light configuration appear integral to the construction of the piece. The vintage wiring has not been professionally certified and should be inspected by a qualified electrician prior to regular use.

The metal base has been newly refinished in gold, creating a more unified monochromatic presentation while emphasizing the extraordinary dimensional quality of the flowers and foliage. Archival photographs documenting the table’s earlier polychrome floral finish are available.

While the table bears a strong relationship to the gilt botanical furniture and sculptural lighting associated with German designer Hans Kögl, no surviving manufacturer’s label has been located and the piece is therefore offered without a definitive maker attribution.
