Its rich mahogany finish sets off black marble top, brass mounts, plinth base, a hallmark of of the empire period France craftsmanship in the empire tradition. Its patina has developed slowly and naturally over the years, the kind of depth that cannot be faked or hurried. Furniture like this was built to be passed down, not replaced, and choosing it today continues that same intention. Choosing an antique is also a small, meaningful act of sustainability: it keeps a well-made object in circulation instead of adding a new one to a landfill. It is well suited to a small accent cabinet or side table. See less
