The gentle wear across its surface was earned over real decades of use, not applied for effect, and it only adds to the piece's presence. There is a particular satisfaction in owning something with real history behind it, rather than something made to be replaced in a few short years. Rather than buying something destined for a landfill in a few years, an antique like this rewards you with materials and joinery built to be repaired, not discarded.
