The gentle wear across its surface was earned over real decades of use, not applied for effect, and it only adds to the piece's presence. Living with an antique is a way of keeping a small piece of the past in daily use rather than behind glass. Furnishing with antiques is a gentle form of good stewardship, letting well-built pieces continue their working life rather than ending up in a landfill.
