The deep ebony black surface highlights scroll-carved ebonized frame, black upholstery with bolster pillows, characteristic of France furniture making in the napoleon iii tradition, of the napoleon iii period. The gentle wear across its surface was earned over real decades of use, not applied for effect, and it only adds to the piece's presence. A piece this age has already been loved by more than one household, and it is ready to be loved by another. Furnishing with antiques is a gentle form of good stewardship, letting well-built pieces continue their working life rather than ending up in a landfill. It is well suited to a sitting room or entry bench. See less
