The deep espresso brown surface highlights tubular chrome frames, espresso leather cushions, characteristic of Czech Republic furniture making in the mid-century modern tradition, of the mid-century period. Its surface and joinery bear the honest, gradual wear of genuine age rather than a manufactured distress, evidence of a long working life already lived. There is a particular satisfaction in owning something with real history behind it, rather than something made to be replaced in a few short years. Rather than buying something destined for a landfill in a few years, an antique like this rewards you with materials and joinery built to be repaired, not discarded. It is well suited to a living room seating pair. See less
