A pair of patinated bronze candlesticks, probably Italian, late 19th century, circa 1880–1900, modeled in the form of ancient Roman double-spouted oil lamps. Each rounded vessel rests on a short pedestal and circular foot, with two curving branches supporting cylindrical candle sockets above spreading foliate collars. Raised scrolling foliage ornaments the bodies, while sweeping open handles terminate in pronounced palmette leaves. The dark brown patination emphasizes the sculptural modeling and finely articulated ornament.

Each central cover is surmounted by a baluster stem supporting a miniature figure of a child embracing a waterbird. Fine chains draped across the shoulders preserve another detail associated with antique lamp construction. The elevated figural groups balance the projecting candle branches and tall leaf handles, giving these compact objects an unusually elaborate silhouette. Their combination of functional candle fittings and archaeological lamp forms places them within the decorative vocabulary of the Grand Tour.
