Deeply molded scales and dramatically ribbed fins create wonderful texture, while the exaggerated vertical profile gives the piece a distinctly modern, graphic quality. The hollow fish form functions as a vase or planter, with the opening cleverly incorporated into the tall dorsal fin. Marked “JAPAN” on the underside, this circa 1960's piece is an especially appealing example of Japanese figural ceramics and displays beautifully with or without flowers. See less
