At an impressive 11 inches … Read more A striking vintage Morgantown Glass Swirl Pitcher Pattern number 9844 in brilliant blue Art glass. At an impressive 11 inches tall this substantial hand formed pitcher has a sculptural presence that changes dramatically as it is viewed from different angles.

Beginning with a substantial 4” x 4” square base, the body rises into a distinctive, twisting waist before opening into an undulating rim and dramatically pulled pouring spout. A large applied loop handle completes the asymmetrical form.

One of the most appealing characteristics of the glass is it so orange peel texture along with ripples and tiny bubbles and other hand formed irregularities that catch and reflect the light. The blue changes is beautifully with the thickness of the glass – from luminous turquoise to ocean blue through the body to intense deep cobalt

This is a substantial piece of glass weighing 3 pounds 3.6 ounces. It measures approximately 13 inches high and 9 3/4 inch from the tip of the pour spout to the outermost edge of the handle with a 4“ x 4“ base.

The pitcher has been in my collection for more than 30 years and was carefully stored. It has not been used as a pitcher or a vase during my ownership and the interior is free for mineral deposits and water.

The Morgantown Pitcher cannot be fully appreciated from a single view two dimensional view, the pitcher has been photographed from multiple angles.
