Striking vintage handcrafted lidded wood bowl dated October 24, 1996 on the underside. The piece is constructed from contrasting laminated woods arranged in alternating light and dark bands, creating a bold graphic pattern throughout the body and lid.
The rounded vessel has a substantial turned form with stepped horizontal detailing, three short cylindrical feet, and a fitted lid topped with a sculptural turned knob. The lid is especially beautiful, with the laminated woods forming a radiating geometric pattern across the top.
The underside retains its original handwritten date “10.24.96” along with the number “33.” No maker’s name has been identified, so the piece is being offered as an unattributed artisan-made work.
A beautiful example of 1990s studio craft, equally suited as a decorative object, covered bowl, or sculptural accent in a Postmodern, organic modern, eclectic, or collected interior.
Condition
Good vintage condition with light age-related surface wear, small marks, minor finish variation, and a few areas of rubbing consistent with its age and handmade construction. The underside retains original handwritten markings and date. Please review photos closely for condition.
