Dating from 1989, the painting presents an energetic abstract composition built from layered geometric forms, gestural black lines, and expressive passages of blue, red, pink, green, white, yellow, and violet. Istrati’s approach is associated with Tachisme and postwar European abstraction, emphasizing spontaneous brushwork, overlapping shapes, and movement across the canvas. The work is signed “A. Istrati” on the lower right, with additional inscriptions on the reverse identifying the artist, the date 1981, and the title Composition Bleu Rouge. The canvas is presented in a metallic-tone frame.
