This duo has the increasingly rare ability to be beautiful, comfortable, and genuinely interesting—all at the same time. Tall serpentine backs, softly shaped wings, padded arms, carved cabriole legs, and beautifully proportioned exposed wood frames give them presence without a trace of stiffness.

The softly aged wood has exactly the right amount of patina—enough to suggest a past, but not enough to require anyone to start inventing one. Tobacco-toned chenille warms the silhouette beautifully, while generous down-filled cushions make their position on comfort quite clear: non-negotiable.

The happy surprise are the backs: a gloriously scaled pheasant-and-foliage scene in tobacco, olive, warm gold, brown, and red. Unexpected, slightly theatrical, and considerably more interesting than the usual upholstered backside. The pheasants have clearly arrived with opinions.
