A place to write, work, or plan tomorrow.
Vintage two-light brass bouillotte library lamp featuring an adjustable oxblood red tole shade with a richly crackled finish, antiqued brass construction, candle-form sleeves, scrolling arms, and a shaped stepped base.
Inspired by traditional French Louis XVI and Neoclassical bouillotte lamps, this compact example has particularly good proportions and substantial construction, it is especially useful on a writing desk, library table, console, or bedside chest. The lamp features a three-way switch, allowing the two candle-form lights to be illuminated in different combinations for adjustable levels of light.
The crackled surface of the tole shade is an intentional decorative finish, giving the lamp the character of an older painted example while retaining the convenience and quality construction of a more recent piece.

Very good vintage condition with minor surface wear and variations to the antiqued brass finish consistent with age and use. The oxblood red tole shade has an intentionally aged crackle finish with subtle surface variation. Made in China for the American market, the quality and traditional form are comparable to bouillotte lamps produced by established American decorative-lighting houses of the period. Lamp retains its original UL certification and production labels dated 04/05 and is in working condition.
