Striking pair of vintage Chinese porcelain garden stools richly decorated in a vibrant Famille Rose palette with lotus blossoms, hummingbirds, lush foliage, and traditional Chinese motifs. The colorful enamel decoration is raised and textured to the touch, giving the floral and figural details wonderful dimension beyond typical flat-painted decoration.
Dating to the late 1970s or early 1980s, these exceptional drum-form stools were crafted in the historic porcelain hub of Jingdezhen, China, and feature the official iron-red Factory 02 export mark on their bases.
Each barrel-form stool features pierced Chinese coin motifs on the top and sides, dimensional iron-red bosses, and elaborate decoration in shades of pink, turquoise, green, yellow, lavender, blue, and red. Coordinating decorative borders complete the highly detailed design.
Beautiful as garden stools, side tables, drinks tables, plant stands, or sculptural accent pieces. Their saturated color and intricate decoration work especially well in Chinoiserie, Hollywood Regency, maximalist, traditional, and eclectic interiors.
Sold as a pair. Both retain red character marks on the underside. Vintage condition with age-appropriate wear and surface irregularities; please review photographs for details.
