Royal Copenhagen Blue Fluted Full Lace footed porcelain compote, model No. 1/1020, made in Denmark circa 1969–1973. Hand-painted in cobalt blue on white porcelain, the bowl features the collection's characteristic fluted surface, floral decoration, elaborate pierced lace border, scalloped rim, and raised pedestal base.

Blue Fluted is Royal Copenhagen's historic Pattern No. 1, first introduced in 1775. The more elaborate Full Lace form was developed in the late 19th century under artistic director Arnold Krog and is distinguished by its intricate hand-pierced border, with each opening individually formed and accented in blue.

At 8.25 inches across, this is a particularly useful decorative serving piece—beautiful filled with pastries, fruit, chocolates, or petits fours on a bedside or breakfast table, and equally effective displayed on its own.

JUNE'S THOUGHTS
What I like about this compote is that it is beautiful enough to collect but practical enough to use. For The Guest Bedroom, I filled it with pastries and placed it on the bedside table—a small gesture that makes a guest feel especially welcome. Afterward, it can move easily to a dining table, sideboard, or coffee table filled with fruit, sweets, or flowers. The pierced Full Lace border gives it an elegance that ordinary blue-and-white porcelain simply doesn't have.
