Three Bémol chairs by Baumann, the French maker from Colombier-Fontaine whose sledge-base chair became one of the best-known French seats … Read more Three Bémol chairs by Baumann, the French maker from Colombier-Fontaine whose sledge-base chair became one of the best-known French seats of the post-war decades. The frame is beech, stained a deep warm brown, and the whole chair is drawn from a single continuous line: the runners sweep forward, rise into the front legs and carry on up into the curved back rail, so the chair appears to rest on the floor rather than stand on it. The seats have been re-covered in black vinyl in our workshop, so the set is ready to use straight away. The frames are solid, the joints tight and the patina even across all three. Each chair measures 80 cm high, 49 cm wide and 47 cm deep, with a seat height of 46 cm. Sold as a set of three. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
