Sculptural rattan lounge armchair designed by tito agnoli in italy during the 1950s, representing the sophisticated experimentation with natural materials characteristic of postwar italian design. The chair features a beautifully constructed rattan frame with a tall, gently curved backrest, sweeping armrests and an unusual continuous loop-style base. Numerous slender rattan elements form the open seat and back, creating an intricate rhythm of vertical lines while maintaining a remarkably light visual presence. Particularly noteworthy is the craftsmanship throughout the chair. Wrapped joints, woven connections and carefully bent structural elements demonstrate the artisanal construction behind the seemingly effortless organic form. The dramatically high back contrasts with the relatively low seat, giving the chair an elegant lounge-like profile. Viewed from the side, the curved arms and flowing base emphasize its sculptural quality and make the piece attractive from virtually every angle. Its combination of organic materials, sophisticated proportions and expressive construction makes it particularly suitable for collectors of italian mid-century modern, modernist and postwar european design. The chair has been carefully refurbished while retaining the natural variations and minor traces of age that contribute to its authentic vintage character.
