Here is a vintage Italian Chinoiserie tole tray coffee table, featuring a beautifully hand-decorated brown metal tray with an elaborate Asian-inspired landscape and a contrasting black faux-bamboo metal base.
The generously sized rectangular tray features a gracefully scalloped gallery edge and a warm brown painted finish. Delicate cream, tan and gold-toned decoration depicts a fanciful landscape of pagodas, willow-like trees, birds and figures, including an elaborate procession with an ornate carriage. The intricate detailing and softly contrasting colors give the table a wonderfully decorative quality.
The tray rests on a black metal faux-bamboo base with clustered legs and an X-shaped stretcher. Rubber inserts at the tops of the supports keep the tray securely positioned during use, while allowing it to be easily lifted off for serving or transport. The contrast between the warm brown tray and black bamboo-style base adds to its classic Chinoiserie appeal.
Marked "ITALY" on the underside of the tray. A charming and versatile piece that combines the decorative appeal of traditional Italian toleware with the practicality of a generously sized coffee table.

The painted tray shows some minor surface scratches and a few areas of fading to the decorative finish. The black faux-bamboo metal base has light surface wear.
