The richly patterned exterior gives the box tremendous decorative presence, making it as much a piece of fine Victorian furniture in miniature as a functional drinks accessory. Opening the hinged lid reveals a luxurious velvet-lined fitted interior in a rich color, designed to accommodate three decanters.

One original-style decanter remains and is included, crafted from wonderfully thick crystal with a classic hobnail-cut body and substantial faceted ball stopper that catches and reflects the light beautifully. The included crystal decanter measures approximately 8.5 inches high, 3 inches wide, and 3 inches deep overall.

The box measures 12 inches wide, 4.75 inches deep, and 9.75 inches high. The lock is prominently marked Bramah, the celebrated English lockmaker whose sophisticated mechanisms were used on fine-quality boxes and luxury objects of the period, further underscoring the quality of the piece.
