The design combines white glazed shafts with hand-painted or hand-printed decoration in yellow, green, black, and orange, including Napoleonic-style eagles, laurel wreaths, stylized “N” devices, foliate borders, scale-pattern bands, and yellow-and-black geometric edging.

The underside is marked “Hand Printed in France for Lord and Taylor,” identifying these as French retail-commissioned decorative ceramics rather than an independently signed studio production. Lord & Taylor had a documented history of promoting French decorative arts, including a 1928 publication and exhibition devoted to modern French design, and French faience was also sold through American department-store channels in the 20th century.
