Antique Federal Revival Rosewood Writing Desk with Burl and Brass Accents
Elegant antique Federal Revival writing desk crafted in beautifully figured rosewood with burl wood accents and decorative brass hardware.
The desk features a richly figured rectangular top with a shaped front edge and low raised gallery along the back. The facade incorporates three drawers, including a bowed center drawer decorated with an elaborate brass swag and central medallion. The flanking drawers feature burl panels framed with carved detailing and brass ring pulls.
The case rests on four exceptionally slender turned legs, giving the desk an elegant, light appearance despite its substantial construction. The combination of richly figured rosewood, burl veneers and Neoclassical brass ornamentation creates a sophisticated Federal/Sheraton-inspired design.
The drawers have dovetail construction on both ends for superior strength.
Antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. The top exhibits scratches, finish variation and surface marks, including a noticeable scratch/mark toward the center. Additional minor losses, nicks and wear are visible throughout. Please review photographs carefully.
