The tapestry is particularly interesting for its very fine and detailed weaving, with subtle shading and a remarkably intricate decorative border. The piece has a warm, muted palette of beige, taupe, ivory and brown tones, giving it an authentic antique appearance. An important feature is the woven inscription and emblem in the lower-left area, incorporating a royal-era Spanish symbol/emblem, with the word “MADRID” woven beneath it. This marking adds considerable interest to the piece and indicates its Spanish/Madrid origin. The tapestry is woven entirely in fine wool, and silk with a tightly worked textile structure visible on the reverse.
