The composition has an appealing sense of quiet and balance: the darker vessel in the foreground anchors the scene, while the luminous white boat and lighthouse draw the eye across the water towards the horizon. Reflections soften the divide between boats, sea and sky, lending the harbour an almost dreamlike stillness.

This oil on canvas is presented in a handsome gilt wood frame with a wide cream-toned inner border. The painting is in good vintage condition – there are small areas of craquelure present but remain stable. There are marks to the inner frame. These age-related imperfections are consistent with the work’s vintage nature and do not detract from its overall appearance.
