Each chair features an ornate shaped crest above a pierced and carved central back splat with scrolling foliate decoration. The carving continues through the substantial front legs, terminating in wonderfully sculptural feet. The warm brown wood retains an attractive aged surface with the variation and character expected of antique furniture.

The chairs are fitted with removable seat cushions upholstered in a rich emerald green and gold brocade-style textile. The jewel-toned upholstery provides a striking contrast against the dark wood and gives the pair considerable decorative presence.

Good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. The wood exhibits rubbing, finish variation and other surface wear. One chair has a visible age split through a portion of the carved back decoration, as shown in the photographs. Evidence of age, construction, and previous work is visible from the undersides.
